Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many people were diagnosed with dementia in each year since May 2010.

The number of people recorded on practice disease registers is available in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), published by the Health and Social Care Information Centre. The numbers of diagnoses are not available but the numbers of people on the dementia register is shown in the table below. This is a measure of prevalence rather than incidence.
