Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his Department's publication Department for Transport Ninth Statement of New Regulation, updated on 30 December 2014, whether he plans to bring forward secondary legislation to ensure that children aged three to 14 wear seat belts while travelling on coaches.

It is the Department’s intention to bring forward secondary legislation to ensure that children are required to wear seat belts while travelling on coaches. Adults over the age of 14 already have this requirement imposed on them, and the intention is to extend this to children as expressed in the Government’s Ninth Statement of New Regulation.
