Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his Written Statement of 8 January 2015, WS175, on Rail in the North: Rolling Stock, what estimate he has made of the total cost of leasing the new rolling stock; and what proportion of that cost will be borne by (a) his Department and (b) train operating companies in each year until the end of the lease.

The total cost of the rolling stock solution is c£20m, which will be borne by the Department for Transport.
