Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, what reports he has received of abuses of the non-domestic renewable heat incentive scheme; and if he will make a statement.
Since the non-domestic RHI scheme was launched in November 2013 there has only been one confirmed case of fraud. This case was identified as suspected fraud by Ofgem in February 2013 during the application review process, i.e. the installation was never accredited to the scheme. As a result, the installation was in breach of an eligibility requirement of the non-domestic RHI, and the party was required to pay a fine and court costs to the value of approximately £1,200.
Ofgem E-Serve’s Counter Fraud Team continue to investigate and manage suspected cases of scheme abuse, misuse or fraud.
