The Department has extensive arrangements in place to ensure that people can access affordable prescriptions for which someone with asthma may qualify. A broad range of prescription charge exemptions are in place, and, to support those with greatest need who do not qualify for an exemption, prescription prepayment certificates are available. A holder of a 12-month certificate can get all the prescriptions they need for just £2 per week. There are no current plans to amend the list of medical conditions that provides exemption from prescription charges.
