Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many prosecutions have taken place in the UK as a result of horsemeat being sold as beef in the last five years.

The Food Standards Agency advise that no prosecutions have taken place in the United Kingdom as a result of horsemeat being sold as beef in the last five years. Investigations and prosecutions are on-going in a number of related cases.
