Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many GPs (a) excluding retainers and registrars and (b) including retainers but excluding registrars per one million population there were in (i) England and (ii) each Health Education England region in each year since 2009-10.

The attached table provides the information for all general practitioners and for the requested categories for 2004 to 2013. The next census will be published on 25 March 2015, reflecting the position in September 2014.
