Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent discussions he has had with representatives of disabled people's charities on uptake of mobility scooters in the UK.

No recent discussions have taken place. However, the Government commissioned research into who uses mobility scooters and trends in their usage. The 2014 report ‘Mobility Scooters: a market study’ was carried out by the Research Institute for Consumer Affairs (RICA). The latest estimate is that there some 350,000 mobility vehicle users in the UK.
