The Secretary of State has met leaders from retailers, brands, manufacturers and representative organisations to discuss the levels of plastic pollution and how to increase the recyclability of plastics, including ‘on the go’ waste issues. Defra officials have met representatives of major supermarkets where they discussed proposals regarding the introduction of a deposit return scheme.
