Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate he has made of the amount of money that has been saved by the Government by making vehicle tax registration available online.

Since its introduction in 2004, the online vehicle licensing service has delivered an estimated total efficiency saving of £95 million (up to financial year 2013/14).

In addition, further efficiencies will be realised as a result of abolishing the tax disc in October 2014 of around £10 million per year.
