Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department has made any assessment of whether the UK's expected departure from the EU has affected the supply of the drug Epilimchrono (sodium valproate).

Sanofi, the company who supply Epilim, have confirmed that all Epilim preparations are currently available.

The Department is aware that some modified-release Epilim presentations have recently been affected by manufacturing disruptions at Sanofi’s production site. This has meant that stock levels of some presentations may be lower than usual, but these issues have now been resolved. This supply issue is not related to the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union.

We fully understand the importance of this medicine to patients and are continuing to monitor the situation closely to ensure the supply of Epilim products remain available.
