Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will bring forward legislative proposals to increase penalties for people convicted of assisting tax evasion.

This government has been relentless in its crackdown on tax evasion. The unprecedented Common Reporting Standard will mean that by 2018 over 90 countries be exchanging information on offshore accounts automatically, helping HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to find and pursue offshore evaders successfully.
