Question to the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the press release entitled Business Secretary: “I'm backing investment and innovation to power good growth in every corner of the UK”, published on 22 July 2026, what proportion of the aerospace research funding represents new funding.

The Government announced more than £500 million of industry-led aerospace research and technology projects at the Farnborough International Airshow. The co-funding provided through the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Programme will support innovation, growth and high-skilled jobs across the UK aerospace sector. The announced funding for the projects had not been announced before but will come from within existing departmental budgets, which were set at up to £2.3 billion at the last Spending Review.
