A total of 360,682 finished consultant episodes with a main or secondary procedure of cataract surgery were carried out in 2013-14; 3,6001 were provided to private patients in a National Health Service hospital.

These figures do not represent the number of different patients, as a person may have more than one episode of care within the same stay in hospital or in different stays in the same year.
