Headteachers are responsible for the curriculum in their school. They should work closely with their leadership team and teachers in designing their school curriculum. For maintained schools, the national curriculum forms part of the wider school curriculum. Teachers and schools represented over half of the respondents to our consultation in 2013 on proposals for the new national curriculum, which attracted over 4500 responses in total.
