Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what representations he has made to his Bahraini counterpart on the recent upholding of the convictions against relatives of the wife of Mr Sayed Alwadaei, the Director of Advocacy of the London-based Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy.

We are aware of and continue to monitor the cases raised in your question. Officials from our Embassy in Manama attended the court session for the individuals in question. We have raised these cases at a senior level with the Government of Bahrain.
