Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent representations he has made to his Bahraini counterpart on the case of the human rights activist Nabeel Rajab.
As the statement I released on 21 February made clear, we are concerned by the five year sentence handed to Mr Rajab. We have raised the case at the highest levels with the Government of Bahrain. We continue to encourage the Government of Bahrain to protect freedom of expression for all of its citizens, in line with its international obligations.
