Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what progress has he made in evolving the Army’s mix of Regulars and Reserves to ensure a minimum of 100,000 soldiers, of which 73,000 are Regular, as outlined in Recommendation 43.

The Army is continuing work to implement the recommendations of the Strategic Defence Review, including those relating to the future balance of Regular and Reserve personnel. The Army continues to take forward a range of initiatives to strengthen resilience, readiness and access to specialist skills across the whole force to ensure a minimum of 100,000 soldiers, of which 73,000 are Regular. Implementation activity is ongoing.
