Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority Major Projects Annual Report 2025 to 2026, Tables, 10K Additional Prison Places Estate Expansion Category D, how many prison places have been a) delivered and b) are to be delivered.

As of September 2026, the Category D Expansion Programme has delivered 180 places, with around 600 remaining places to be delivered.

Of the places delivered, 60 of these are at HMP Hatfield and 120 are at HMP Sudbury. Of the remaining places, we are delivering c.360 places at HMP Ford and c.240 places at HMP Standford Hill.
