Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of allocating new funding to support retrofitting housing stock with renewable energy, home insulation or heating transition.
As set out in the Government’s Net Zero Strategy, meeting Net Zero requires the buildings sector to be decarbonised by 2050. This means improving the energy performance of homes and gradually phasing out fossil fuel heating. The Government has therefore committed £6.6 billion through schemes such as the Home Upgrade Grant, Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
The Government will continue to look at ways to make UK homes more comfortable and cheaper to run.
