Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what plans the Government has in the forthcoming Spending Review to (a) support (b) allocate funding and (c) expand early intervention services, including, (i) health visiting and to (ii) health promotion services.
The Government’s vision ‘Prevention is better than cure’ confirmed the Government’s view that our early experiences shape lifelong health with action need from before pregnancy and throughout childhood. The Government has confirmed, through the NHS Long Term Plan, that it will consider whether there is a stronger role for the National Health Service in commissioning health visitor services. The future of budgets outside of the NHS England resource settlement will be confirmed later this year at Spending Review 2019.
