Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to the 2019 edition of the UK Housing Review, what recent assessment he has made of trends in the number of (a) homeless families living in temporary accommodation and (b) short-term lets.

The number of a) homeless families living in temporary accommodation in April-June 2018 was 61,480 of which 55,480 were in self-contained accommodation. Information is not collected on b) short term lets. Figures showing trends back to 2002 are shown in the Temporary accommodation tables available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-homelessness.
