Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment he has made of the current protections in place for swifts, swallows and martins.

Like all wild birds, swifts, swallows and martins as well as their nests and eggs are offered robust protection under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Individuals convicted of an offence could face up to six months in prison or an unlimited fine, or both.
