Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, for what reasons his Department did not conduct a consultation on opening new Post Office branches under the terms of the New Network Locations.

Post Office Limited are required to notify customers when opening new branches rather than to carry out a consultation. This is in accordance with the ‘Principles of Community Engagement on Changes to the Post Office Network’ agreed with Citizens Advice, the independent statutory consumer watchdog.
