Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that serving Armed Forces personnel are able to access skills, qualifications and employment opportunities to support successful transitions into civilian careers.

The Ministry of Defence remains committed to supporting Service personnel as they transition to civilian employment through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), the Armed Forces' official provider of resettlement services.

The CTP delivers a comprehensive programme of career transition support, including career consultancy, employability guidance, job-finding assistance, vocational training and access to a wide network of employers. This support is designed to help Service Leavers maximise their employment prospects and achieve positive and sustainable civilian career outcomes.

Through its bespoke CTP training programme, Service personnel can access industry-recognised qualifications and vocational training aligned to labour market demand. Training opportunities cover a broad range of sectors, including engineering, construction, digital and cyber, project management, logistics, health and safety, renewable energy and business administration. These courses are designed to equip Service Leavers with the knowledge, skills and qualifications sought by civilian employers.

In addition, the CTP works closely with employers across the public, private and third sectors to identify employment opportunities and ensure that the skills and experience gained during military service are effectively matched to workforce requirements across the UK economy.
