Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what plans his Department has to issue guidance to staff in the Department of Work and Pensions on EU citizens with settled status and their entitlement to social security.

The Home Office has introduced the EU Settlement Scheme to enable resident EEA and Swiss citizens, and their family members, to obtain an immigration status in the UK.

This status will protect, and enable individuals to demonstrate, their rights to work, education, healthcare, and other benefits and services in the UK after it has left the EU in both a ‘deal’ and ‘no deal’ scenario. This means that EEA and Swiss nationals who obtain status will retain their current entitlement to healthcare, education, benefits and social housing.
