Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps her Department is taking to improve asbestos management in schools.

While the management of asbestos in schools remains the responsibility of individual schools and duty holders, the department has taken steps to support them to fulfil their responsibilities.

In parallel with the review on asbestos management published in March 2015, the department published refreshed guidance for schools, which provides an accessible, step-by-step guide to managing any asbestos present in their buildings.
