The Government’s position remains that exiting the EU with a deal is in the UK’s best interests. Alongside this, the Government has been working closely with operational partners to prepare for all eventualities, including leaving the EU without a deal. The conversion of UK issued Schengen Information alerts to Interpol notices and diffusions is one element of this.

Our preparedness includes supporting and funding the creation of the new International Crime Co-ordination Centre (ICCC). In light of the extension, we would expect the ICCC to work with police forces on preparing to use Interpol in place of SIS II, if that becomes necessary, in the most efficient way possible.
