As part of our continued support to the UN Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Daesh (UNITAD) in Iraq, the UK announced an additional £1 million in funding in July 2019 to exhume mass graves across northern Iraq and to collect witness testimony. Our Ambassador to Iraq met again with the head of UNITAD, Mr Karim Khan, on 1 March to reaffirm UK support and encourage close co-operation between UNITAD and the Government of Iraq to achieve justice for the victims of Daesh's crimes.
