Question to the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the Government press release entitled £130 million for cutting-edge next generation vehicles securing over 1,800 jobs, published on 10 August 2026, what estimate has been made of how many of the jobs expected to be supported are additional jobs rather than jobs that would otherwise have existed.

Projects announced in the Government's press release of 10 August 2026 were assessed through the relevant programme assessment processes before funding was awarded, following a competitive exercise. Funding is awarded only where projects are assessed as delivering benefits that would be unlikely to be realised to the same extent, scale or timeframe without government support. This includes projected manufacturing jobs.
