Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many instances of mumps there were in the first quarter of (a) 2019, (b) 2018, (c) 2017 and (d) 2016.

Mumps is a notifiable disease and healthcare professionals are legally required to report all suspected cases to their local Health Protection Team. The number of confirmed cases of mumps in quarter 1 of each year from 2016 is shown in the following table.
