On 1 April 2018, the Government published its response document Protecting Consumers in the Letting and Managing Agent Market, which outlined its consideration for a mandatory code of practice in the property agent sector. The Government is committed to introducing a mandatory of code practice for managing agents who administer leasehold contracts on behalf of landlords. Where a landlord undertakes the administration of a leasehold contract themselves, they will be obliged to meet the statutory requirements of the forthcoming code.
