Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will make an assessment of the effect on the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s resources of the UK Ship Register’s decisions to (a) expand its criteria for shipowner eligibility and (b) introduce a system of bareboat charter-out.

There may be some impact on Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) resources of the UK Ship Register’s decision to expand its criteria for shipowner eligibility, but it would be manageable as slow growth is expected.

There would not be any significant impact on MCA’s resources of the UK Ship Register’s decision to introduce a system of bareboat charter-out.
