Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment has been made of the forecast change in the (a) accuracy and (b) completeness of the (i) Parliamentary and (ii) local government electoral roll from the introduction of Automatic Voter Registration.

The Government is using the Representation of the People Bill to lay the foundations to make the registration process more automated and simpler in the coming years.

The policy was assessed as part of the Impact Assessment for the Representation of the People Bill.

We intend to explore and test new and more automated methods of registration and evaluation of this testing will help us to better understand the potential impact of the proposed automated registration processes.
