Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department plans to give people who are at risk of contracting monkeypox access to the Modified Vaccinia Ankara – Bavarian Nordic smallpox vaccine.

On 21 June 2022, the UK Health Security Agency published a vaccine strategy which recommends that gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men who are at higher risk of exposure to monkeypox should be offered a smallpox vaccine, Modified Vaccinia Ankara. The strategy is available at the following link:

Vaccines are also offered to at-risk healthcare and laboratory workers.
