The English Housing Survey (EHS) contains details of the demographic profile of households in England. In the most recent published figures (for 2023-24) there were 447,000 households renting privately where the Household Reference Person (HRP) was aged 16-24. This equates to 10% out of all households in the private rented sector. Around two-thirds (68%) of all households where the HRP was aged 16-24 were renting privately.
