Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate she has made of the number of salmon caught in UK rivers in each of the last five years.

The numbers of salmon reported to have been caught by anglers in UK rivers in each of the last five years is shown in the table below. These figures do not include salmon caught by nets and traps which are situated in estuaries or coastal areas of the UK. The majority of the fish caught (67 to 80%) were released. The data for 2014 is provisional.
