Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what recent discussions she has had with hydrogen suppliers on making the gas network hydrogen-ready.

In 2025, Government consulted on hydrogen blending in the GB gas transmission network to explore the potential strategic benefits, and the technical and economic implications, of enabling hydrogen blends in the network. The consultation received more than 100 responses from stakeholders across the hydrogen value chain, including end users and hydrogen producers. DESNZ Ministers and officials have also met with hydrogen producers and gas networks to provide an update on the policy development for hydrogen blending.
