Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps she is taking to support British businesses that manufacture hydrogen fuel cells.

The Government recognises the important role British manufacturers play in developing hydrogen technologies, including fuel cells. Hydrogen is backed as a frontier technology in the Industrial Strategy’s Clean Energy Industries Sector Plan. Funding is available from the public finance institutions, including GBE’s £1 billion Energy Engineered in the UK programme, which is designed to create jobs and support homegrown champions by crowding private investment into UK-based clean energy supply chains. We remain focused on growing the UK hydrogen economy by supporting investment in domestic manufacturing capabilities, and ensuring UK hydrogen and fuel cell companies can access high value opportunities in international markets.
