Falkland Islands: Sovereignty

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether it remains the policy of His Majesty's Government that there can be no negotiations on the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands without the consent of the Falkland Islanders.

As the Foreign Secretary recently reiterated, the UK's position on the Falkland Islands is long-standing and unwavering. The Islands are British and will remain so for as long as the Islanders wish. Their right of self-determination is grounded in international law, and this government will resolutely uphold it.
