Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment her Department has made of the potential fiscal yield from asylum accommodation cost reductions.

The Government is delivering a more affordable and sustainable asylum system. It has already reduced asylum spending by around £1 billion since 2023-24. It plans to deliver a further £1 billion of savings by 2028-29. These savings are expected to arise from a number of initiatives, including the commitment to end the use of asylum hotels during this Parliament.
