Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what guidance his Department has provided to local authorities on ensuring that property development plans tackles climate change.
The National Planning Policy Framework and its accompanying planning practice guidance provide clear expectations on adaptation and resilience to a changing climate. All development plans should take a proactive approach to mitigating and adapting to climate change, taking account of the implications for flood risk, coastal change, water supply, biodiversity, landscapes and risks of overheating from rising temperatures.
