Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what steps he is taking to encourage a free and fair referendum on the governance of Western Sahara.

The UK is fully supporting UN-led efforts to encourage Morocco and the Polisario Front to agree a lasting and mutually-acceptable political solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara. I discussed the issue of Western Sahara with the Government of Morocco during my visit on 20 May.
