An assessment into the effect of the child maintenance calculation on inequality in different constituencies in the UK has not been conducted. Child maintenance is calculated as a percentage of a non-resident parent’s income, according to a formula that is intended to ensure that maintenance is affordable and adapts to changes in living costs over time.
