Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether the Secretary of State’s Best Value Commissioners on Birmingham City Council were consulted on the Council's decision to undertake legal expenditure on an injunction to remove British flags from lampposts.

The detail of day-to-day operational activities of Commissioners and their engagement with the local authority in intervention is not routinely reported to ministers, including on matters of flags and what can and cannot be placed on lampposts.
