The Department has announced its intention to remove the exemption from routine inspection for schools previously rated Outstanding by Ofsted, subject to public consultation and Parliamentary approval. The aim is for routine inspection of Outstanding schools and colleges to recommence from September 2020 onwards. The Department will provide additional funding for this purpose for 2020-21. Funding for these inspections in subsequent years will be determined through the forthcoming Spending Review.
