The Department does not hold information on the number of zebra crossings at floating bus stops that do or do not comply with TSRGD. Installation of floating bus stops, including zebra crossings, is the responsibility of local traffic authorities who are not required to inform the Department when doing so. It is for them to ensure measures on their network comply with relevant legislation.

The Department has made no assessment on the effectiveness and enforceability of requirements for stripes at zebra crossings under Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Enforcement of offences relating to zebra crossings is a matter for the police

Research is being carried out by Active Travel England on potential solutions to improve accessibility of floating bus stop designs. This includes work to identify existing floating bus stops at national level and evaluate collision records.
