On 8 September the Secretary of State made an Oral Statement confirming that the Government will introduce primary legislation, if necessary, to require major technology companies to build in stronger device-level protections for children. The Secretary of State made clear that any legislation introduced must be capable of being effectively enforced. The Government is considering the detail of those enforcement arrangements as legislative proposals are developed.
