Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, how many employees in the UK engineering sector are from countries outside the EU; and if he will estimate the total contribution of such employees to (a) GDP, (b) turnover of engineering employers and (c) GVA in the last 12 months.

It is not possible to answer the questions as there is no agreed statistical definition of what is meant by the term “engineering sector”.
