Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that local councils uphold their statutory duty to promote community cohesion.

Whilst there is no specific duty on local authorities to promote community cohesion, they clearly must show due regard to the need to tackle discrimination and foster good relations between people.
